Hello everyone,
As you are probably aware, the mental health of Canadians has deteriorated in the last two years, especially among young people between ages 15-24, since the Covid-19 pandemic was declared, putting massive pressure on our mental health system that was already close to a breaking point.
Based on CAMH's survey completed by over 600 youth from across Ontario, 39% of the youth from the community reported significant problems with mood and anxiety. For those drawn from the group of youth who previously sought mental health support, the figure jumped to 68%. These statistics made me realize there's probably someone in my circle - and in yours - who's living in pain.
On September 17th, I am participating in the RBC Race for the Kids live event at Mel Lastman Square. I stopped participating (the virtual events) for the last two years to take care of my own mental health and now I am ready to bounce back!
I have signed up for the 5k race this year and you can help me to make a difference to support young people with mental illness by sponsoring me to fund the Family Navigation Project at the Sunnybrook Hospital, an innovative program that connects young people and their families to find the mental health care services they desperately need post Covid-19 pandemic.
My personal fundraising goal for 2022 is $1,000 and I need your support! The more I raise, the more young people will benefit. Please give what you can and help me to reach my fundraising goal. Thank you very much!
Cheers,
Chris
